Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, was at the National Assembly, Monday, September 30, 2024 to provide testimony before the House of Representatives' joint committee investigating bribery claims against Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials and Haliru Nababa, the controller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Clad in traditional attire, he entered the chamber accompanied by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
VeryDarkMan previously released an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly admitted to bribing EFCC officials with N15 million to dismiss a money laundering charge against her.
Ola Olukoyode, chairman of the EFCC, was represented at the hearing by Michael Nzekwe, his chief of staff. Haliru Nababa, controller-general of the NCoS, was also in the building.
Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, at the time of filling the report, was yet to arrive, but Avwerosuoghene Omuvwie, his/her lawyer, was in the chamber.
VeryDarkMan had shared an audio in which Bobrisky purportedly claimed that she bribed some EFCC officials with N15 million to drop the money laundering charge against her.
On Thursday, the lower legislative chamber resolved to probe the allegations against the anti-graft agency and the NCoS.
Bobrisky was released on August 5, after she was sentenced to six months in prison on April 12 for abusing the naira.
In the purported recording, the crossdresser also allegedly claimed that her “godfather”, alongside Nababa, ensured she served the six-month sentence in a private apartment and not in prison.
On September 26, the federal government suspended two officials of the NCoS over the bribery allegation.
At the time of reporting, VDM had refused to address the committee because Bobrisky was not present. However, some members of the committee are imploring him to proceed with his testimony.
Some lawmakers are demanding that VDM be arrested by the sergeant-at-arms if he does not want to speak “because he has already been put on oath.”
VDM is however insisting that he would not say a word until Bobrisky shows up. “If I say anything, let me die,” he said.
Adeyanju is also backing his client not to speak “because Bob is not here.”
The lawyer also said they have come with ample evidence, but “Bob must be here for it to be presented.”
VDM has left the podium. He is conferring with Adeyanju on whether to address the committee or not, and shortly after, addressed the committee.
