President Bola Tinubu has announced a significant cabinet reshuffle, eliminating the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development during a Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesman, revealed that a new Ministry of Regional Development will be established to manage regional commissions, while the National Sports Commission will assume the responsibilities of the former sports ministry.
Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism will merge with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy to streamline operations.
“There will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission and North East Development Commission.
“The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports,” Onanuga said in a statement.
