PHOTOS: Goodluck Jonathan arrives in Seoul for World Summit 2025 and Sunhak Peace Prize ceremony

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan arrived in Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday afternoon, April 10, 2025, ahead of the highly anticipated World Summit 2025 and the formal presentation of the prestigious 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Dr. Jonathan, who shared the news of his arrival on social media, expressed gratitude to the South Korean government, Nigerian Embassy officials, and the event organizers—the Sunhak Peace Foundation and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF)—for their warm reception and hospitality.

The World Summit 2025 will bring together global leaders to discuss pressing issues related to peace and development. Dr. Jonathan is set to receive the Founder’s Sunhak Peace Award, recognizing his exceptional contributions to peace building and democracy across Africa through initiatives like the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation and the West African Elders Forum.

This marks a historic moment as he becomes the first African leader to win this category of the Sunhak Award, joining past laureates such as former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Writing on his social media page, Jonathan said: “We arrived in Seoul, South Korea, this afternoon ahead of tomorrow's World Summit 2025 and the formal presentation of the 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize.

“I thank the Korean Government, Nigerian Embassy officials as well as the Sunhak Peace Foundation and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), organisers of the programmes, for their kind courtesies and warm reception.”
