Yesterday, August 5, 2025, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) proudly flagged off the Africa-BB-Maps National Event in Abuja, marking a historic milestone as the first among 11 African countries to commence work on the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) led broadband mapping initiative.
The event drew key stakeholders from government agencies, industry leaders, and development partners, all gathering to focus on enhancing broadband infrastructure across the continent.
Day 1 featured vibrant discussions centered on collaborative strategies for broadband infrastructure mapping, planning, and promoting digital inclusion.
This pioneering venture not only underscores Nigeria’s commitment to advancing digital connectivity but also sets a precedent for coordinated efforts to bridge the digital divide across Africa.
The initiative promises to provide comprehensive data-driven insights, empowering policymakers and service providers to better plan and expand broadband access.
