Party officials and past candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State have described the influx into the party by high profile politicians from other parties as a blessing that will propel it to greater victory in future elections.
Some of these old members of the party expressed their feelings during the strategic stakeholders meeting of the ADC that was held in Gombe.
They said their positions are not in any way threatened or at risk because of the influx into the party by high profile politicians from PDP, APC, CPC or LP among others.
On his part, the Gombe State chairman of the ADC, Ya'u Danladi, said beside the coalition members, the in-house meeting was organised to discuss internal issues and to see how they can support the coalition leaders.
According to him, "various chairmen at different levels, stakeholders, State executives and many, who contested in the 2023 elections were here to look at how we can co-opt new entrants into the party.
"We are not threatened in any way by the big shots coming into the party. We have been discussing and they promise to work with us and give us all the necessary support.
"We have also promised to create a level playing ground for everyone in a way that we tirelessly work together to build the party," Mr. Danladi assured.
Speaking on behalf of those that contested under the platform of the party in 2023, Mohammed Buhari Dalhatu, ADC State House of Assembly candidate for Gombe North constituency, waved aside any fear of contesting again with new entrants into the party.
He said, "I don't feel threatened by anyone that will come and contest the same position with me, after all, we'll all go through a process of a primary election", adding, "I came third during the last State Constituency election with over 2,000 votes".
He described the strategic stakeholders meeting as very important stressing that, "it is expected that we the old members should come together, strategize to see how to receive new members".
