Zenith Bank awards N200 million to celebrate D’Tigress’ triumph

In a grand show of support and recognition, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Zenith Bank PLC donated a total of 200 million Naira to the victorious D’Tigress basketball team.

Each player will receive 10 million Naira, credited directly into newly opened Zenith Bank accounts created specifically for them. The remaining funds will be distributed among the team’s technical staff, acknowledging their crucial role in the team’s success.

This generous gesture not only rewards the players’ hard work and dedication but also fuels the continued growth of Nigerian women’s basketball on the international stage.

President Bola Tinubu had, also, generously rewarded Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team with an impressive package following their recent triumph.

Each player received $100,000, while every member of the 11-man coaching and technical staff was granted $50,000.

Beyond the cash prizes, all team members and officials were gifted spacious three-bedroom flats at the Renewed Hope Estate, symbolizing the nation’s deep appreciation for their outstanding achievements.

In a further mark of distinction, President Tinubu bestowed on the entire squad and technical crew the esteemed national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger, recognizing their exceptional contributions to Nigerian sports.

The D’Tigress clinched their historic fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, outplaying Mali 78–64 in the final held at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Sunday, August, 3, 2025.

The win marks their seventh overall championship, reinforcing their supremacy in African women’s basketball.
