BREAKING: FCT Civil Service trailblazer Grace Adayilo is dead

Mrs. Grace Adayilo, the pioneering Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has died.

Reports indicate that the late Mrs. Adayilo passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025. 

Confirmation came via a brief message from her Special Assistant on Media, Anthony Odey, who responded with a concise “Yes, please” when asked about the news  by a reporter with the Punch Newspaper. 

No additional information regarding the circumstances of her passing has been disclosed.

Grace Adayilo made history when President Bola Tinubu approved her appointment as the Head of the Civil Service of the FCT on October 6, 2024, marking her as both the first person and the first woman to hold the position. 

Prior to this role, she served with distinction as the Permanent Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat.

At this time, neither the family of the late Adayilo nor the FCT Administration have released official statements concerning her death.
