Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of Lagos State House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, has been officially confirmed as the substantive chairman of Agege Local Government.
His appointment comes after the resignation of former chairman Tunde Azeez, who stepped down on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, due to ongoing health issues. Azeez, who had been on medical leave since shortly after his July 27, 2025 inauguration, formally handed in his resignation during a plenary session at the Agege council chamber, with the letter read by House Leader Adeshina Haruna.
Following the resignation, lawmakers unanimously voted to confirm Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, who had served as acting chairman, as the substantive leader of Agege Local Government.
