NNPC Limited has confirmed an explosion
near the Escravos-Lagos pipeline on Wednesday evening, affecting communities in Delta State.
The incident was reported around 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, near Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom. Initial checks show a pressure drop on a pipeline operated by NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), indicating a loss of containment. The cause is under investigation.
NNPC stated that emergency response procedures are active, with coordination alongside authorities and community leaders to address impacts. The company prioritizes community safety and environmental protection, it stated in a press release
No casualty reports have been confirmed yet. NNPC reiterated its commitment to safety standards and will provide updates as more details emerge.
