Super Eagles edge Tunisia 3-2 thriller to storm AFCON knockouts!

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have punched their ticket to the Round of 16 at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), joining record champions Egypt even before Match Day 2 of the group stage wraps up.

In a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Tunisia at Morocco’s Complexe Sportif de Fès, the three-time winners electrified roaring fans with a dominant display.

Chasing their fourth continental crown, Nigeria struck first in the 44th minute through star striker Victor Osimhen, who pounced on a pinpoint cross from Ademola Lookman.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi, leading the team for just his second official match, doubled the lead five minutes after halftime. He rose highest to head home another Lookman delivery.

Osimhen flipped the script in the 67th minute, turning provider for Lookman to fire in Nigeria’s third and seal the momentum.

Tunisia fought back with a consolation header from defender Montassar Talbi in the 74th minute. The drama peaked in the 87th when they won and converted a penalty through Ali Abdi, putting Nigeria’s defense on high alert.

The Eagles of Carthage pressed hard for an equalizer in the dying minutes, but the Super Eagles held firm to clinch the win and advance.
