Beloved Hollywood icon Robert Duvall, forever etched in cinematic history for his unforgettable roles in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, has died at 95.
His wife, Luciana Duvall, shared the heartbreaking news via a poignant statement on his Facebook page Monday, February 16, 2026, accompanied by a cherished photo of the couple.
“He passed away peacefully at home on Sunday,” she wrote, celebrating his lifelong passion for acting and thanking the fans who supported him throughout his storied career.
“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home. To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller,” she wrote.
“To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented.
“In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.”

Robert Duvall is an acclaimed actor, director, and producer with a career spanning over six decades.
A graduate of New York’s Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, he honed his craft alongside future stars like Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman.
Duvall launched his career with stage and TV roles in the late 1950s, then drew wide acclaim for his film debut as Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird.
He achieved global fame as Tom Hagen in The Godfather and its sequel, and later claimed the Academy Award for Best Actor as country singer Mac Sledge in Tender Mercies.
