Court slams door on Turaki PDP faction at National HQ

Kabiru Turaki

A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a strict order blocking the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from entering the party’s national secretariat.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik delivered the ruling on Monday in a lawsuit brought by PDP members loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The court mandated security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services, to safeguard the Wike-backed group’s access and operations at the PDP headquarters.

Abdulmalik declared the faction’s national convention held November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan illegal and void. She ruled it defied existing court orders, violating Section 287(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the PDP’s own constitution.
