NCC champions women’s empowerment, pledges to close digital gender gap on International Women’s Day

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) marked International Women’s Day 2026 on March 8 by celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of women across the country, while reaffirming its commitment to bridging the digital divide.

In a heartfelt statement, the NCC highlighted the pivotal role of women in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. “Let’s keep bridging the digital divide and empowering women to thrive in a connected world!” the commission declared, using the occasion to rally support for greater female inclusion in digital spaces.

The initiative underscores NCC’s ongoing efforts under the theme “Empowering Women, Connecting Nigeria,” aiming to equip women with the tools and opportunities needed to excel in technology and beyond.

This comes amid growing calls for gender parity in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy, where women continue to drive innovation despite persistent barriers.

As Nigeria pushes for broader internet access and tech literacy, the NCC’s message resonates with the #WomenInTech movement, inspiring a new generation of female leaders.
