Explosions rattled Iran’s southwestern petrochemical hub in Mahshahr late last night, following precision strikes by the United States and Israel, according to Iranian authorities cited by local media.
Report by AFP states that thick smoke billowed from the targeted site near the Iranian capital, visible in dramatic footage from yesterday’s related attack. No casualties were reported in this latest assault.
The facility had previously suffered fatalities: five people died in a strike there just this past Saturday, a local official confirmed.
“At 11:40 pm (2040 GMT) on Tuesday, Amir Kabir Petrochemical in Mahshahr was attacked by American and Zionist enemies. No casualties have been reported,” said Valiollah Hayati, the deputy governor of the southwestern Khuzestan province, quoted by the state-sponsored Mehrs news agency.
The agency had reported earlier that the company’s public relations manager “announced the enemy’s assault on one of the units of this complex in the Mahshahr special zone.”
