Activist-turned-politician Aisha Yesufu has hit back at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike after he reportedly mocked her for losing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial primary in Rivers State.
At a recent event in Rivers, Wike was said to have downplayed her loss, saying “real politics” goes beyond media interviews and referring to her defeat in the NDC primary as an “ordinary” matter.
His remarks drew an angry response from Yesufu.
On her official X account, Yesufu challenged Wike to name her directly. “If dem born Wike well, make e call my name with his full chest! What Tambuwal did him in 2022 will be child’s play,” she wrote, referencing Wike’s earlier political setbacks.
Yesufu also accused Wike of failing to secure party positions in 2022. Aisha said Wike also could “not win primaries in 2022”, alleging that the minister also lobbied for a running mate role, was not chosen, and later contributed to the decline of a party that once held great influence.
She added that Wike, whom she said sought power to gain authority, should not expect deference from people of the Kukuruku region of Edo State.
“Let me wait make the man get liver mention name! Then the man doing boi boi because he has to be in power to have authority will know those of us from Kukuruku empire of Edo State in South-South no dey grovel,” Yesufu wrote.
Her response underscores the sharp tensions between the activist and the minister following the primary results and the public exchange of insults.
