Prince Harry says brother, Prince William pressured cousin, Peter, to snub him from family wedding

The Princes while growing up

Prince Harry alleges he was left off the guest list for his cousin’s wedding and believes his brother, Prince William, played a role.

Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne, is due to marry Harriet Sperling this Saturday in a ceremony expected to draw senior members of the royal family, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton and Prince Edward.

Notably absent from the guest list are Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

An insider quoted by media outlets says Harry believes William pressured Peter not to invite him. Harry and Peter have not spoken in years, and the source says Harry interprets that silence and the omission from the wedding list as the result of William’s influence.

A royal commentator told reporters that Peter is “very loyal” to William and may have declined to invite Harry to avoid drama within the family.

Buckingham Palace and representatives for the parties involved have not issued public statements confirming the private conversations referenced by the sources.

The wedding is scheduled to proceed this Saturday with attendance from senior royals, while Harry and Meghan will be absent. Harry has publicly expressed frustration about being excluded.

Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have lived in the United States since 2020 and have a well-documented rift with the royal family that widened after Harry and Meghan stepped back from senior royal duties.

Commentators and unnamed insiders in recent coverage, however, attribute the guest-list decisions to a desire among some royal family members to avoid renewed public controversy.
