Rhodes-Vivour, Lagos ADC governorship candidate, loses mother

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Lagos, announced the death of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso), in a statement shared on X on Monday, July 13, 2026.

“With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (Nee Waboso),” the statement read. 

He described her as “a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. The epitome of Love. She will be sorely missed. May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace.” 

Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly, he also said.

Nkechi Rhodes-Vivour became prominent during her son’s 2023 campaign, actively mobilising support. 

After the election she publicly raised concerns about alleged vote buying and complained that security agencies failed to apprehend those responsible.
