Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring in the 21st minute, calmly converting a penalty awarded after a VAR check for handball. Substitute Gift Monday extended the lead in first-half stoppage time, netting her first tournament goal.
Egypt pulled one back before half-time when Nadine Ghazi converted a penalty following another VAR review, leaving the score 2-1 at the break.
