Love After Loss: Tochi Wigwe weds Wilson Aikhomu in elegant Lagos traditional ceremony

Tochi Wigwe, daughter of the late Nigerian banking titan Herbert Wigwe, has begun a beautiful new chapter as she traditionally married investment executive Wilson Omogbale Aikhomu in an intimate ceremony in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The bride radiated grace in her traditional attire as family members, close friends and loved ones gathered to witness the couple exchange vows through rich cultural rites.

The private celebration featured the payment of the bride price, the signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to the groom’s family.

A Celebration of Family and Culture

Held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the wedding brought together the Wigwe and Aikhomu families in a warm, understated atmosphere that reflected the couple’s preference for privacy. Guests shared photographs and videos online, drawing an outpouring of congratulations and heartfelt wishes for the newlyweds.

Tochi, whose full name is Otutochi Wigwe, looked effortlessly elegant throughout the ceremony. Her simplicity, poise and joyful demeanour made her the centre of a celebration defined by love, family and tradition.

Who Is Tochi Wigwe?

Tochi is the eldest surviving daughter of Herbert Wigwe, the co-founder and former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings. She studied at New York University, earned a master’s degree from Imperial College London, and has worked in banking and financial services, including roles at Access Bank and Coronation Merchant Bank.

She now serves as a director at the HOW Foundation, an organisation established in memory of her late father.[punchng]

A Meaningful New Beginning

The wedding comes more than two years after Tochi lost her parents, Herbert and Chizoba Wigwe, and her elder brother, Chizi, in a helicopter crash in the United States in February 2024. The tragedy also claimed the life of former NGX Group Chairman Abimbola Ogunbanjo.

Herbert Wigwe was widely respected as a transformative figure in African banking, having co-founded Access Bank in 2002 and led Access Holdings into one of Nigeria’s largest financial institutions.

The Groom

Wilson Aikhomu is a Lagos-based investment professional and serves as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty. His union with Tochi marks the joining of two families through a ceremony that honoured heritage, intimacy and enduring commitment.

As Tochi and Wilson step into married life, well-wishers continue to celebrate their love story—one marked by resilience, family bonds and the promise of brighter days ahead.

Congratulations to the beautiful couple. May their home be filled with love, peace, laughter and lasting happiness. ❤️🥂
