Super Eagles coach Finidi George has emphasized the importance of unwavering commitment from every player in the team's quest to win. His statement comes after Nigeria's disappointing 2-1 loss to Benin in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, which has left the team's hopes of reaching the tournament hanging in the balance.
The loss, which followed a 1-1 draw against South Africa, has sparked criticism and outrage among Nigerian fans and football enthusiasts.
However, Finidi remains optimistic, stating that there is no magic formula for success and that the team must focus on elevating its players to deliver their best on the field.
In a post-match press conference, Finidi emphasized the need for every player to be committed to the team's objective of winning. He noted that despite the setback, the battle is far from over and that the team will find ways to overcome its current struggles.
"We have to see how players start the new season and how we can get the best out of the players," Finidi said, adding, "Everybody must be committed. I think with that commitment, we'll win games, and if we can win games, the battle will still be there.
He said further: “We can't throw in the towel because we have had only three points. We have to find a way to get these players in a way they have to perform."
