Yemisi Ogunleye snatches Gold for Germany in thrilling shot put finish

In a dramatic finale at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Yemisi Ogunleye clinched gold for Germany in the women's shot put with a stunning last throw of 20.00 meters.

The 25-year-old athlete, of Nigerian heritage, had been in contention throughout the event but delivered her best performance when it mattered most.

Her throw of 20.00m was enough to claim a thrilling gold, with New Zealand's Maddison-Lee Wesche earning a silver medal after throwing 19.86m.

Song Jiayuan of the People's Republic of China left Stade de France with the bronze medal throwing 19.32m.

This victory marks the first time in 20 years that Germany has won a medal in this event, solidifying Ogunleye's place in Olympic history.
